Oakdale Police Blotter: More than $2,000 Worth of Items Stolen from Car
In other reports, more mail tampering, police called to fight between siblings.

A $1,200 laptop and a $500 iPad were among the items stolen in a car break-in the night before Christmas Eve, according to an Oakdale Police Department report.
Someone broke into the car—which was parked in a lot in the 1200 block of Gentry Avenue—by damaging the door handle between 5 p.m. Dec. 23 and 8:30 a.m. Dec. 24, according to the report.
In addition to the electronics, a $35 griddle, $600 tool kit, $30 cell phone charger and $45 worth of CDs were stolen from the car, the report says. The estimate to repair the door is $200, according to the report.

- Around 2:35 a.m., police got a report of two men in the area of the 1500 block of Granite Avenue looking in mailboxes. Police weren’t able to locate the men. They did find mail from the area in the 6600 block of Lower 12th Street and at the intersection of Granite Avenue and Granite Lane.
- A woman who has her basement listed for rent in the Review newspaper got a call from a man who began describing sex acts. He provided a telephone number, but the number he called from was blocked. The address was not listed in the ad.
- Two cars sustained major damage due to a collision at Helmo Avenue and 15th Street. A car headed south on Helmo Avenue got hit when a car headed west on 15th Street ran a red light. No one was injured. Both cars were towed. The driver, a 68-year-old from Oakdale, admitted to running the red light and was cited.
- A resident in the 6600 block of Gretchen Lane reported that there was a large raccoon on his sidewalk that was possibly rabid. Police used a catchpole to get the raccoon into the grass, shot and killed the animal, and disposed of it.
- Someone broke the driver’s side window out of a car parked at and stole groceries, a Nintendo DS game and a pair of slippers valued at $60 total between 4:53 and 5:53 p.m. The property damage estimate is $100.
Dec. 25:
- A resident in the 1400 block of Granada Avenue reported receiving a death threat against her and her daughter by phone around 9 a.m. The complainant recognized the voice of the caller and believes that she is capable of following through.
- Police got a report of an adult brother and sister fighting at a residence in the 1200 block of Holly Avenue. When officers arrived the brother, a 32-year-old from Tucson, AZ, had already left for home and the sister, a 29-year-old from St. Paul said the fighting was typical for their family and then also left the residence to return home.
- A 17-year-old from Oakdale was cited for inattentive driving after rear-ending a car that was stopped at a light at Hadley Avenue and 15th Street. Both vehicles had minor damage, and the driver of the car that was hit had back pain but refused treatment at the scene.
- A man pumped $90 worth of gas into a vehicle at the gas station at 10th Street and Hadley Avenue and then drove off without paying for it. The license plate on the vehicle had been stolen. The same license plate had been used in another gas drive-off. The owner of the car that the plate came from said the vehicle had been parked in a lot in the 6900 block of 10th Street and hasn’t run for months, so he didn’t know when its license plate was stolen.
