Oakdale Police Blotter: Rash of Graffiti Found on Ninth Street

In other reports, a driver rear-ended a stopped vehicle, then sped around them and drove off.

Someone or a group of people with some spray paint caused a rash of damage to properties on Ninth Street Tuesday, June 2, according to Oakdale Police Department reports.

Someone spray painted symbols on the taillights of one car, and the headlights of another car parked in the driveway of a home in the 8100 block of Ninth Street, causing more than $1,000 in damage, according to a police report. Some of the paint got onto the body of one of the cars. The incident occurred between 1:30 and 8 a.m., according to the report.

A resident in the 7900 block of Ninth Street had the words “New World Order” spray painted on their garage door, causing $100 damage. A garbage can in the 8000 block of Ninth Street was also spray painted. In the 8100 block of Ninth Street ‘T.J.” was spray painted on the grass at a residence.

Another resident in the 7900 block of 9th Street Court reported that someone spray painted his vehicle’s license plates between 1:30 and 8 a.m. The resident was able to remove the spray paint with brake cleaner.

During the same time period, a swastika had been spray painted on the back of a stop sign in the 8100 block of Ninth Street.

While checking the area for other damage, police located male genitalia spray painted on the sidewalk near the west edge of a property in the 8000 block of Ninth Street. Police also observed the letter “G” spray pained with black paint on the light pole at the east edge of property in the 7900 block of Ninth Street.

Following are other incidents that were reported May 31-June 2:

May 31:

  • A former employee at a roofing business reportedly used her company card without permission to make about $200 worth of charges at each of Oakdale’s SuperAmerica stations.
  • Multiple CDs and a jacket with a total value of $530 were stolen from a vehicle parked in a driveway in the 6200 block of Gopher Boulevard between 6 p.m. May 29 and 6 a.m. May 31.
  • A $115 bicycle left unsecured near a detached garage in the 6100 block of 45th Street was stolen between 3:30 and 6:15 p.m. The bicycle is a BWI “Next” mountain bike that is red with white lettering on the frame.

June 1:

  • Police responded to a report of a car fire in the parking lot around 1 p.m. An officer found that a piece of cloth on the manifold was burning.
  • A student reported that someone stole his $75 yearbook from his backpack while it was left unattended in a classroom during lunch.
  • A 22-year-old man and 26-year-old woman, both of Oakdale, were cited for trying to steal $273 worth of merchandise from .
  • A driver said she was heading north on Hadley Avenue, waiting to turn left onto west 32nd Street when another driver rear-ended her. That driver then backed up and drove around her to turn onto 32nd Street. There were no injuries, but there was a hole punched into her vehicle’s rear bumper.
  • The and Xcel Energy responded to the 2400 block of Hamlet Avenue on a report of a cut gas line that was struck in a construction area.
  • A complainant at at 10th Street and Helmo Avenue reported that a man pumped $54 worth of gas and drove off without paying. He had the man’s license plate number and police are following up.

June 2:

  • A 12-year-old at admitted to smoking marijuana and then bringing drug paraphernalia to school the next day.
  • A resident in the 1700 block of Helena Road reported that between 8 p.m. May 31 and 3:30 p.m. June 2 someone removed his heated mirror from its housing on the passenger door of his truck, causing a $275 replacement cost.
  • A resident in the 6600 block of 53rd Street reported that someone entered his home through a basement window and then exited through the attic by kicking out ply board. There were pry marks by the basement window. It’s unknown whether anything is missing, and the resident suspects his son, whom he recently kicked out.
  • A complainant at gas station reported a man pumped $47 worth of gas and drove off without paying.
  • Around 5:30 p.m. a woman was spotted behind the counter at the Linder’s Greenhouse at 7053 10th Street. When confronted, she stole a handful of gift cards that weren’t activated. The complainant thought she was trying to take the cash register, but she wasn’t successful.
