Oakdale Police Blotter: Stolen Item Recovered at the Scene of Second Car Break-In
In other reports, witness sees truck charge into the woods at former golf course, man reports being assaulted in road rage incident

Police recovered an item taken in one car break-in at the scene of another one in the early morning hours Thursday, Dec. 22, according to Oakdale Police Department reports.
A cell phone, CDs, a map book, a small black notebook and a cell phone charger with a total value of $270 were stolen from a vehicle parked in a driveway in the 7800 block of 23rd Street overnight between Dec. 21 and 22, according to a police report. The driver’s side window of the vehicle was broken out, causing $200 damage, the report says.
The notebook was later recovered at the scene of another vehicle break-in. That incident was reported at 5:48 a.m. in the 2100 block of Hydram Avenue. A witness called as the incident was taking place. He saw a small, green vehicle pull up to the driveway, according to another police report. He saw a man walk up to a truck in the driveway and break out its driver’s side window, the report says. The victim of the theft reported that his garage door opener, GPS device, CDs, cell phone charger and sunglasses were missing. The total value of the items stolen was $395, and the vehicle damage estimate is $200, according to the report.
The witness wasn’t able to further describe the suspect or his car, the report says.

- A woman reported that her ex-boyfriend kicked in an apartment door in the 4100 block of Gershwin Avenue and entered the apartment in violation of a restraining order. The man, a 20-year-old from St. Paul, also broke a bedroom window to the apartment, she said. Police found the man walking in the area. He showed signs of intoxication. He denied committing any crimes other than underage drinking.
- Someone broke out the front driver's side window and rear passenger side window of a vehicle parked in the 2900 block of Hamlet Avenue between 10 p.m. Dec. 21 and 6:30 a.m. Dec. 22 causing $400 damage.
- Someone from reported they suspect a man stole $965 worth of brass fittings on Dec. 2, based on surveillance video. The same man is suspected of stealing $1,449 worth of brass fittings from the store on Dec. 19, and is also a suspect in thefts at other Menards stores.
- Someone stole $950 worth of tools from an unlocked car parked inside of a garage in the 900 block of Greenway Avenue between 3 and 10 a.m. The garage door was closed, but unlocked.
- An employee at the Holiday gas station at Highway 5 and Hadley Avenue reported that someone pumped $46 worth of gas into a Cadillac and fled. The suspect license plate number is not on file.
Dec. 23:
- A complainant reported seeing a pink Chevy S10 drive really fast into the wooded area at the former Oakdale par 3 golf course on Golfview Avenue. Police located the car unoccupied in the woods. They checked the area and didn’t find anybody. Police were unable to make contact with the vehicle owner. They towed the truck and a notice of impoundment was mailed to the vehicle owner.
- Someone pumped $52 worth of gas into a Cadillac at the station at 10th Street and Helmo Avenue and drove off without paying for it.
- A 23-year-old Oakdale man reported that he was slapped and punched in the face by another man following a road rage incident. The incident started at 10th Street and Hadley Avenue, and then the man followed him to Alerus Financial and assaulted him. Police photographed the injuries and were attempting to locate the suspect at the time of the report.
- Oakdale Police assisted Maplewood Police in arresting two men who were suspects in an armed robbery in Maplewood. One man was arrested in the parking lot of an Oakdale gas station, and the other was arrested in the parking lot.
- A woman approached an Oakdale officer to report seeing a suspicious man in the area of 11th Street and Greystone Avenue. She said he removed mail from a mailbox in the 6800 block of 11th Street and placed it in a black bag. The man left the area when the woman walked nearby. Police located the man walking in the 6900 block of 15th Street. He fled on foot when an officer approached. A Washington County K-9 unit assisted with a search for the man, but he couldn’t be located. Police did find a black duffel bag in a nearby yard, but there was no mail inside. It contained a pair of used rubber gloves, which is being sent to the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension for testing.
