Oakdale Police Blotter: Two 900-Pound Pieces of Steel Stolen

In other reports, $800 worth of items were stolen from storage unit and items were missing after a friend stayed the night.

Two 900 pound pieces of steel were stolen from a business in the 6900 block of 55th Street between Nov. 3 and 10, according to an Oakdale Police Department report.

Someone stole two pieces of stainless steel worth $1,700 each from outside the north yard at Brown Tank between 5 p.m. Nov. 3 and 9:30 a.m. Nov. 10, the report says.

Each piece of steel is 5 by 20 feet, according to the report. Police saw faint tire tracks from a possible suspect vehicle, the report says.

  • A backpack, books, an iPod and other items totaling $415 were stolen from an unlocked vehicle parked in the 6800 block of Eighth Street Lane between 6 p.m. Nov. 2 and 7:30 a.m. the next day.
  • About $800 worth of items were stolen from a storage unit at Stevens Self Storage between Nov. 4 and 5. Someone had broken the slide lock off of his unit. Among the stolen items were two sets of golf clubs and silver spoons in a wooden box.
  • A resident in the 4100 block of Geneva Avenue reported that after a friend stayed the night, a television and computer were missing from her apartment.
  • A woman reported that upon moving out of the 3600 block of Gershwin Place Nov. 5, she saw that $2,050 worth of her jewelry was missing. She said the items were stolen between Nov. 1 and 7.
  • A credit card stolen from a car in Woodbury was fraudulently used to purchase a total of $1,372 worth of merchandise from .

Nov. 8:

  • Three students reported being unable to find their wallets. One student reported paying for lunch between 11:44 a.m. and 12:11 p.m., and then being unable to find the wallet after that. Another student reported losing his wallet between 8:15 and 9:10 a.m. A third student reported losing his wallet between 9:10 and 9:16 a.m.
  • A $60 pair of black women’s boots was stolen from outside the wrestling room at Tatan High School between 8:15 and 9 :10 a.m.
  • A $100 cell phone left in a Tartan High School classroom between 12:49 and 1:44 p.m. is now missing.
  • A resident in the 4700 block of Geneva Avenue reported that an unknown person slid a note under her apartment door that said, “Will you have sex with me?”

Nov. 9:

  • An employee at the gas station at Helmo Avenue and 10th Street reported that someone pumped $52 worth of gas and then drove off without paying for it.
  • A 62-year-old Oakdale man was arrested for driving with a cancelled license and failing to yield to emergency vehicles in the in the 6500 block of 10th Street around 7 p.m. During a routine license plate check, police saw the vehicle’s registered owner  had a cancelled driver’s license. Police activated their lights and sirens, and the vehicle continued on for six blocks to a home. Police removed the driver from the vehicle, who was trying to get into the garage. A preliminary breath test showed a .062 concentration of alcohol. The man said he kept driving because he didn’t want his vehicle to be towed.

Nov. 10:

  • A resident in the 2300 block of Hale Avenue reported that his neighbor collected all of his leaves and put them in the street. Police confirmed that the leaves were in the street. They made contact with the homeowner who said he had just gone to the store to buy bags for the leaves.
