Oakdale Police Blotter: Two Car Break-Ins at Oakdale Gym

In other reports, a break-in at Silver Lake Kennel; car stolen from driveway, then recovered

Two car break-ins were reported at around 1:30 p.m. Nov. 6, according to Oakdale Police Department reports.

Police were called to the gym when an employee saw an unknown man wearing a gray hoodie go into a car, pop the trunk and take items from the car before fleeing, according to a report.

The car’s front, driver’s side window had been broken, causing $200 damage, and a $750 cell phone, a $100 bag and other items totaling about $1,000 had been stolen from the car, the report says.

At the same time, a second complainant reported someone had broken into her car as well. Her front, passenger-side window had been broken out, causing $250 damage, and a $70 tote bag containing a $110 Bible had been stolen, according to the report.

Nov. 6:

  • Police stopped a driver in the 7900 block of Stillwater Boulevard for having a headlight out and found that he had a warrant for criminal property damage. Police also found that the 19-year-old Oakdale man was in possession of a baggie with a small amount of marijuana. 
  • A complainant reported that a woman driving a gold sedan was yelling and honking her horn as she drove around in circles through a parking lot in the 1300 block of Gentry Avenue. The complainant said she thought the woman was yelling at a man in the building. The driver was gone when police arrived.

Nov. 7:

  • A vehicle was stolen from a driveway in the 6600 block of Gretchen Lane between 10 and 11 p.m. Nov. 6 and then recovered around 3 a.m. the next day in the 3900 block of Granada Avenue. Dog grooming and camping equipment worth $1,000 was stolen from the vehicle, which was locked at the time of the theft. A homeowner near where the vehicle was found said they didn’t notice anything suspicious.
  • Someone smashed the side door at , entered the building and stole $881 from the front desk area between 7:20 p.m. on Nov. 6 and 7:15 a.m. the next day. Police have a suspect. The property damage estimate is $500.
  • Someone stole $5,316 worth of roofing materials from a site in the 3500 block of Genevieve Avenue between 5:30 p.m. Nov. 4 and 7:30 a.m. Nov. 7.
  • A 63-year-old Oakdale man hit a parked car while riding south on Hadley Avenue. The man was looking behind him to make sure no cars were coming when he hit the parked vehicle. The Oakdale Fire Department responded and evaluated the man, and then transported him and his bike home.
