Oakdale Police Blotter: Two Purses Stolen From Cars, Losses in the Hundreds
In other reports, a drunk driver lands his car between two houses, and 11 juveniles were cited for underage drinking.

Two women had their purses stolen from vehicles in the past week—losing hundreds of dollars, according to Oakdale Police Department reports.
On Thursday, Feb. 2, someone stole a purse from an unlocked vehicle parked at between 5:10 and 5:58 p.m., the report says. The total value of the items stolen was $194, according to the report.
The purse contained a driver’s license, miscellaneous items and two credit cards, which were used to purchase $727 worth of items at and $70 worth of items at , the report says.

The next day, police got a report of another purse theft from an employee at , according to an Oakdale Police Department report. Sometime between 3 p.m. and 7:45 p.m., someone broke out the front, passenger side window of the car the employee was driving and took a $50 purse, $150 camera, $199 iPod, $122 watch and $100 wallet containing a driver’s license and financial cards. The property damage estimate was $250.

Feb. 2:
- An officer returned to a gas station in the 3100 block of Century Avenue to double-check a license plate number. The officer found the car's driver asleep and revving the engine. The driver admitted to drinking five beers and there was a beer can on the driver’s seat. The man failed field sobriety tests and a breath test, and he admitted to having no insurance. The man, a 35-year-old from New Brighton, was arrested on a second-degree DWI charge.
- A Circle Pines man reported that he lost his credit card at , and it was used twice at Wal-Mart in Vadnais Heights.
- A 12-year-old girl received an pornographic multimedia message on her cell phone from an unknown number.
Feb. 3:
- A resident in the 4800 block of Helena Road reported that the common area just south of the building was covered with dog feces. He gave officers the unit number of the offending dog owners. Police spoke with the roommate of the dog’s owner, and advised him of city ordinance. He said he would pick up the feces that day.
- Police stopped a driver at 10th Street and Geneva Avenue for displaying an expired license tab, and found that the owner had a warrant for failing to register the vehicle. The driver, a 23-year-old from Maplewood was arrested.
- A 21-year-old Oakdale man was arrested for fourth-degree DWI after his vehicle went off the road in the 4100 block of Hallmark Avenue and between two houses. He admitted to drinking alcohol before driving, and he failed field sobriety and preliminary breath tests.
- A teenager reported that his backpack was stolen from the cafeteria at . It was later returned, but a $130 PSP-3000 (PlayStation Portable) was missing from the bag.
- A Tartan High School student was suspended after a teacher noticed that he smelled like marijuana, and an administrator then recovered a part of a marijuana cigarette in a cigarette box. Police planned to interview the student.
Feb. 4:
- Someone broke a window out of a vehicle parked in a lot in the 4100 block of Geneva Avenue and took subwoofers and an amplifier valued at $800. The property damage estimate is $75.
- A 75-year-old Oakdale woman received a call from a man telling her she won $75,000, but she needed to purchase a card for $120 to get the money. The woman did not purchase the card. Police called the man, however, he would not provide them with any information.
- An officer saw a vehicle whose registered owner had a warrant and revoked license at 10th Street and Geneva Avenue, and pulled the driver over. The driver said she was not the registered owner of the car, however police found that she had a suspended license and a warrant. She called the registered owner of the vehicle, both were arrested.
- Eleven juveniles were cited after admitting to drinking alcohol at a home in the 6100 block of 15th Street at about 10 p.m.
Feb. 5:
- An Oakdale woman reported that her husband called her sister 30 times between 4 p.m. and 12:18 a.m. He sounded intoxicated and was threatening to go to her home and kick down the door. He showed up at the home twice, but did not cause any problems.
