Oakdale’s New Indoor Market Begins Saturday Afternoon
More than 15 vendors will sell a variety of products at the Oakdale Discovery Center this Saturday, and then every other Saturday through March.

Seventeen vendors selling everything from Minnesota-grown meat and wild rice to homemade toys and jewelry will be part of Oakdale's first indoor market of the season Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m. at the .
The market will take place at the same time every other Saturday until March 31.
Oakdale’s Parks and Recreation Department decided to start the indoor market after seeing how popular the city’s summer farmers market was becoming, said recreation coordinator Mike Anderson.

“This past summer was our fourth year, and by far our best,” for the farmers market, Anderson said. He said more people are interested in buying local, and they like the convenience of shopping in town.
There won’t be fresh tomatoes and lettuce at this market, however they will have strudels, breads, honey butter, wine jellies, pure maple syrup and wickless candles.

Additionally, Oakdale Parks and Recreation Commission member David Nilan will be selling Enabled Child by AbleNet items—products that assist children with disabilities, Anderson said.
Ron and Joyce Neumann will be at the market selling beef and pork raised on their farm just north of Princeton, MN, as well as baked goods, such as sweet breads, Ron Neumann said.
“(The meat) originates on our farm from newborns on up, and it’s closely managed,” he said. “We do not use antibiotics or artificial hormones.”
Besides the vendors, members of the Oakdale Royalty will be at the event selling coffee donated by to benefit the local food shelf, Anderson said.
Vendors that will be at the market include: Minnesota Bread Co., Neumann Farms, Lia Sophia Jewelry, Velvet Bee’s Gourmet Honey Butter, Mattison Bread Co., Usborne Books & More, Health Glen Farm & Kitchen, Scentsy, Enabled Child by AbleNet and Ruhland’s Strudel Haus
Indoor market dates are: Jan. 7, Jan. 21, Feb. 4, Feb. 18, March 3, March 17 and March 31
