Online Contest Could Earn Tartan Team $10,000
The team is hoping for more votes to keep them at the top through the contest's end Thursday.

The video four students made on the dangers of texting while driving Now, they’re hoping it could earn their Business Professionals of America group up to $10,000.
Students Tab Her, Nick Schaffer, Peter Vue and Neng Vang are part of a contest called Act out Loud, which is part of National Youth Traffic Safety month.
Supporters can vote for them once per day through 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time Thursday, May 26, on the Act Out Loud Website. The team got word Monday that they were in the top three vote-getters.

They already received a $1,000 donation from the Minnesota Safety Council, which plans to use their video in some way, said advisor Sheryl Krengel.
“The video got passed from friend to friend, colleague to colleague and finally landed on this person’s desk who said we want to do something with this video,” She said.

Now, for the Act Out Loud contest, they’re handing out thumb rings to fellow students to remind them not to text and drive, Vang said, and during prom safety week they had fellow students stamp their thumbprints on a poster as a way of pledging not to text and drive.
