Woodbury Leadership Academy (WLA) is a tuition-free, K-12 public charter school where high expectations and success matter to all! Our learning environment and school community promotes academic achievement for students in grades K-12, as well as personal integrity, equity and a dedication to value and serve others. Our school is committed to our students’ long term success. We use inquiry based learning by teaching the Core Knowledge Curriculum — building strong skills in math, reading, writing, history, science and technology. We also have a strong character education program to ensure students develop exceptional leadership skills. The character education program includes service learning projects and a focus of five core virtues - respect, responsibility, perseverance, gratitude and humanity. WLA uses the rigorous and classical Core Knowledge Curriculum to build strong foundational knowledge across subjects, promoting academic excellence and equity. By ensuring all students share common knowledge, we can narrow achievement gaps and build critical thinking and long-term success. WLA is a public school with a private school feeling. WLA students wear school uniforms to promote equality, reduce peer pressure, and minimize distractions. Small class sizes at WLA allow for teachers and staff to provide personalized instruction, build strong relationships, and increase student engagement. Tartan junior Jordan Bachmeier finished up the first day of the Class AAA state boys golf tournament tied for 46th place overall. Bachmeier is tied with two other golfers in 46th place after 18 holes at Bunker Hills in Coon Rapids. His first-round score of 79 is nine shots off the pace. Forest Lake's Max Kelly currently sits alone in fist with a round of 70. In the team competition, Eden Prairie and Rogers each tied for first with 299 after the first day, while two-time defending champion Wayzata finished the day third at 301. On the girls side, senior Rochelle Dotas finished the day with an 86 at the Class AAA state meet. Dotas is tied with six other golfers in 29th place, 15 shots off the pace.
