North St. Paul football improves to 1-3 on season with 22-13 defeat of Simley in front of a full house.
Playing in front of a packed house on its home turf, the North St. Paul football team won its first game of the season on Homecoming, topping Classic Suburban Conference rival Simley by a 22-13 score on Friday night as Mustafa Shabazz ran for two fourth quarter touchdowns.
After the visiting Spartans took the initial lead of the game on a touchdown run late in the first quarter, the Polars rallied to tie the game on a scoring pass from Brady Soular to Hunter Brooks as the game went to halftime locked at 7-7.
Following a scoreless third quarter, Shabazz ran in his first touchdown that gave the home side the lead for good after a two-point conversion run from Soular that made the score 15-7.

Simley claimed a long touchdown run on the ensuing possession to pull to within two points at 15-13, but failed in its conversion attempt and did not score again on the night.
Shabazz iced the game with score No. 2 late in the final frame as North ran away with the nine-point triumph that improved its record to 1-3 this season. Next Friday, North travels to St. Thomas Academy for a 7 p.m. kickoff.
