Rookies Compete at Weekend Oakdale Athletic Association Tournament

Oakdale youth baseball Rookie League holds weekend tournament.

The baseball fields at Walton Park were flooded Friday and Saturday, by little league baseball players swinging for the fences.

The 2011 Rookies League of the Oakdale Athletic Association is holding its annual season-ending tournament at in Oakdale.

Thirteen youth baseball teams are competing throughout the weekend, with a focus of having fun and learning as much as it is about winning.

Rookies League baseball is designed so children in second and third grades can have an enjoyable experience playing baseball. Players hit off of a pitching machine, and other rules are adapted for children to enhance the game experience.
