Woodbury Leadership Academy (WLA) is a tuition-free, K-12 public charter school where high expectations and success matter to all! Our learning environment and school community promotes academic achievement for students in grades K-12, as well as personal integrity, equity and a dedication to value and serve others. We use inquiry based learning by teaching the Core Knowledge Curriculum — building strong skills in math, reading, writing, history, science and technology. Sherwin Linton has been playing music for 62 years and performing as a professional with his own band for 55 years. He'll take the stage at Oakdale's from 7 to 8:30 p.m. tonight as part of the city's Summer Concert Series. Here's a little information about his band: "The Cotton Kings" includes: <ul> <li>Pam Linton - Vocalist</li> <li>Rick Johnson - Drums</li> <li>Pete Brooks - String Bassist</li> <li>Kenny Wilson - Steel Guitarist </li> </ul> Description of music: Americana—traditional country, folk, gospel, rock-a-billy, cowboy, Broadway, pop standards and patriotic music. Most Popular Songs: 1. "Cotton King" - Top 10 record 1967 2. "Traveling Minstrel Man" 3. "They Call The Wind Mariah" 4. "Santa Got A DWI" — an anti-drunk driving song Linton wrote in 1985 that has sold over 1 million records.  Why perform in a band? "I perform and play music because I love to sing and share my love for a variety of genres of music with others who are willing to listen," Linton said. "I have an estimated repertoire of over 5,000 songs."
