Woodbury Leadership Academy (WLA) is a tuition-free, K-12 public charter school where high expectations and success matter to all! Our learning environment and school community promotes academic achievement for students in grades K-12, as well as personal integrity, equity and a dedication to value and serve others. Our school is committed to our students’ long term success. We use inquiry based learning by teaching the Core Knowledge Curriculum — building strong skills in math, reading, writing, history, science and technology. We also have a strong character education program to ensure students develop exceptional leadership skills. The character education program includes service learning projects and a focus of five core virtues - respect, responsibility, perseverance, gratitude and humanity. WLA uses the rigorous and classical Core Knowledge Curriculum to build strong foundational knowledge across subjects, promoting academic excellence and equity. By ensuring all students share common knowledge, we can narrow achievement gaps and build critical thinking and long-term success. WLA is a public school with a private school feeling. WLA students wear school uniforms to promote equality, reduce peer pressure, and minimize distractions. Small class sizes at WLA allow for teachers and staff to provide personalized instruction, build strong relationships, and increase student engagement. Tartan High School notched its 2nd victory of the season Friday night sending cross town rival North St. Paul home with its 3rd loss.  The Polars controled the ball most of the way in the first half but could capitalize on only 1 field goal.  In the last minutes of the half Quarterback Mitchel Grohs hit Mike McCarthy for a long touchdown pass.  Each team added another touchdown in the second half but Tartan held on to the victory. Tartan, who plays St. Paul Academy next Friday now improves to 2-1 on the Season.  North St. Paul falls to 0-3 and will play Simley next weeek.
