Tartan Duo Finishes State Golf Meet

A pair of Tartan golfers finished up competition Wednesday at the Class AAA state boys and girls golf tournaments.

Tartan senior Rochelle Dotas finished the tournament tied for 35th place with four other golfers at Bunker Hills in Coon Rapids. Dotas shot a 174 during the tournament, following up an 86 on Tuesday with an 88 on Wednesday.

Cretin-Derham Hall freshman Celia Kuenster and Stillwater Area’s Cassie Deeg finished tied for first place on Wednesday with a 148. On the team side, Wayzata won the state championship by shooting a 661. Stillwater finished second with a 668 team score.

Tartan junior Jordan Bachmeier finished with a 75th overall finish.

Bachmeier opened up play on Tuesday with a first round score of 79, good for a tie for 46th place. But an 89 on the final day of competition sent Bachmeier back in the overall standings. He finished with an overall score of 168.

He tied with four other golfers for 75th overall. On Wednesday, he shot a 41 on the East nine and a 48 on the second nine.

Forest Lake’s Max Kelly finished as the individual state champion with a round of 143.

In the team competition, Wayzata and Rogers finished tied for the state championship. Wayzata shot a 291 on the final day to tie Rogers with a 592 overall score.
