Tartan High School's Production of The Laramie Project Opens Thursday

The play tells the story of Matthew Shepard, a man who was beaten and killed—witnesses said—because he was gay.

Production of The Laramie Project opens Thursday, March 31, with a 7 p.m. show. The play details the experience of playwrights from the Tectonic Theater Project as they researched the murder of University of Wyoming student Matthew Shepard in 1998, who witnesses said was targeted because he was gay. The play is told through the experience of a group of playwrights interviewing Laramie locals about the town, and Shepard's murder. Each student actor in the play performs a number of roles.

Other showtimes are at 7 p.m. Friday, April 1, 7 p.m. Saturday, April 2, and 2 p.m. Sunday, April 3. Tickets are $6 for students and $8 for adults. Tickets are available in the main office or at the door.
