Tartan, North Send Individuals To State Track Meet

Numerous track athletes from Tartan and North placed at the state track meet.

The Tartan boys and girls track and field teams had individuals Friday and Saturday at the Class AA state meet at Hamline University in St. Paul.

Senior Trey Johnson took seventh in the boys 200 meter dash, finishing in 22.93 seconds. He also narrowly missed the finals in the 100 meter days and placed 10th in the event. 

Senior Ryan Webster finished eighth in the pole vault with a jump of 13 feet, 6 inches.

On the girls side, seventh-grader Erika Nobly took sixth place in the 3200 meter run. She finished the race in 11:07.38.

From North High School, Gabrielle Murphy of North High School took 10th place in the long jump with a distance of 16 feet and 5.25 inches. Julia Stedman got eighth place in the triple jump with 35 feet and 8 inches.

On the boys side from North, James Ryan placed 17th in the boys 110 meter hurdles preliminaries with a time of 15.70. The 4 x 200 meter relay team of Quentin Mann, Luke Beigle, Jake Perzichili and Joe Cicchese placed second with a time of 1:28.54. Matthew Berens placed 11th in the 1600 meter run with a time of 4:27.75. In the 4 x 100 meter relay preliminaries the team of Jake McGurran, Rex Johnson, Jake Perzichili and Joe Cicchese placed 11th with a time of 43.80. In the 3200 meter run, Matthew Berens placed 12th with a time of 9:38.67. In the boys long jump, Joe Cicchese placed 15th with a distance of 20 feet, 11 inches.

The Stillwater Area boys team won the state championship with 47 team points. Hopkins won the girls state title with 84 points.
