3M selects about 25 teachers each year to participate in the program, according to a brochure on the program.

“At a time when there is a drive to engage students more in science, technology, engineering and math education, Saint Mary’s is helping teachers enhance their knowledge of real-world scientific concepts,” said Scott Walker, the director of Professional Development Initiatives for Educators at Saint Mary’s University. “TWIST positions these teachers to develop hands-on curricula that will help educate the next generation of scientists.”
