Woodbury Leadership Academy (WLA) is a tuition-free, K-12 public charter school where high expectations and success matter to all! Our learning environment and school community promotes academic achievement for students in grades K-12, as well as personal integrity, equity and a dedication to value and serve others. Our school is committed to our students’ long term success. We use inquiry based learning by teaching the Core Knowledge Curriculum — building strong skills in math, reading, writing, history, science and technology. We also have a strong character education program to ensure students develop exceptional leadership skills. The character education program includes service learning projects and a focus of five core virtues - respect, responsibility, perseverance, gratitude and humanity. WLA uses the rigorous and classical Core Knowledge Curriculum to build strong foundational knowledge across subjects, promoting academic excellence and equity. By ensuring all students share common knowledge, we can narrow achievement gaps and build critical thinking and long-term success. Small class sizes at WLA allow for teachers and staff to provide personalized instruction, build strong relationships, and increase student engagement. The wrestling team sent two individuals to Friday's Class AAA state tournament, and both will be coming home empty handed. Titans senior Alex Johnson and freshman T.J. O'Hara each competed Friday and were defeated twice. Johnson lost at 145 pounds to Hastings' Zach Rohr and Elk River's Holton Lubinsky, both by technical fall, to end his state tournament run. O'Hara defeated Hastings' Hunter Swenson before falling to Cambridge-Isanti's Travis Holt 3-2 and Wayzata's Weston Droegemueller 7-0 in the 135-pound bracket.  TARTAN INDIVIDUAL RESULTS 135: T.J. HAST Hunter Swenson 4-1; loses to CI Travis Holt 3-2; loses to WAY Weston Droegemueller 7-0.  145: Alex Johnson — loses to HAST Zach Rohr by tech. fall (16-0); loses to ELK Holton Lubinski by tech. fall (16-1).
