Tomato Packing Operation Sets up Shop in Oakdale

A company that describes itself as the “Home of the Big Tomato” has a new facility in Oakdale.

Maglio & Company, which procures and packages tomatoes, is now operating out of a 25,000 square foot space in Oakdale, near Fourth Street and Helmo Avenue, next to Country Hearth Bread, according to a press release.

The company has been using the loading docks at its new location since January, and construction of a new ripening room, holding cooler, refrigerated packaging area and climate controlled repacking area will be completed by May, the release says.

The new building complements the company’s 123,000 square foot facility outside of Milwaukee, the release says.
