125 Workers To Be Laid Off After Plymouth School Bus Facility Closure
First Student told Minnesota officials that the layoffs are tied to the loss of a contract with Wayzata Public Schools.
PLYMOUTH, MN — About 125 workers are expected to lose their jobs when First Student permanently closes its Plymouth facility this summer, according to a notice filed with the state.
The company told Minnesota’s State Rapid Response Team that layoffs and the facility closure are expected to happen on or about July 31.
The facility is located at 15625 32nd Ave. N. in Plymouth.

According to the notice, the closure is tied to the loss of a contract with Wayzata Public Schools.

- Drivers
- Dispatch workers
- Full-time technicians
- Location manager
- Location safety manager
State officials said it is currently unknown whether the employees are represented by a union. There are no bumping rights, according to the notice.
The layoff was disclosed through a federal Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act notice, commonly known as WARN. The law requires certain employers to provide advance notice of mass layoffs or plant closures.
