What to expect

Led by Pastor Beth, this service we will look back in remembrance, but also forward with hope into God’s future.

Sermon will be delivered by Mount Olivet member, Michelle Jarvie, who will share her own story of losing a loved one; how it has changed her life and anchored her even more into God’s promises.

We will light the Advent wreath, spend time in prayer, and be accompanied by the acoustics of Andy LaCasse on guitar.

Bring an object

We invite you to bring an object of any sort that represents loss in your life - whether it be loss of a loved one, job, health or anything else.

You will have the opportunity to stay following the service and meet in small groups for tea/cookies, and to talk about the objects brought. A chance to listen and be heard.

From the speaker, Michelle Jarvie

“If you’re still reading this but do not consider yourself religious, please know that Mount Olivet is a very different, nonjudgmental, welcoming, peaceful place. When I found it after my husband died, I needed a place that didn’t preach “everything happens for a reason” and other trite platitudes. They don’t - they’re very real - and MO has become one of the most important places in my life.”
