AMLAC Hosts Its First Walkabout

Free Event: AMLAC Walkabout Saturday, June 8, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Association of Medicine Lake Area Citizens is sponsoring a Walkabout, Saturday, June 8, to raise awareness of the lake and its environs.

This “friend-raiser” is designed to be fun and educational for the whole family. Walk, run or bike between stations set up along the bike and walking path around the lake. At each station, learn something about the health or history of the lake, local wildlife, fishing on the lake, or how to support AMLAC in its mission to improve the health of the lake for all area citizens. You can even get a hot dog with the mayor of the City of Medicine Lake and a boat ride from Harty’s North on the east side to West Medicine Lake Park.

And it’s all free.

Here’s how the Walkabout will work. Ten or more stations will be set up along the east, south, and west sides of the lake. Maps indicating the stations will be available at each station. You may choose to visit all or just a few of the stations. There is no starting or ending point. The point is to have some fun and while you’re at it, learn about AMLAC and what you can do to help keep the lake healthy.

So bring the kids. Bring the pets. And join us for AMLAC’s first Walkabout, Saturday, June 8, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. (Rain date is Sunday, June 9.)
