'Tis the season. . . to give. Why IOCP's Sleep Out Campaign is more critical than ever.

When the snow accumulates and the temperatures drop, it signals Sleep Out season. In the midst of a hectic holiday season, why does IOCP focus on raising money?

Because there are 900 families for whom the holidays are more than hectic. They're stressful, daunting, and a daily reminder of how much they struggle to survive. They are unemployed. Their car needs fixing. They are a month or two behind on rent. Their kids are wearing coats they grew out of last year. There isn't enough food.

These aren't just any families, these are OUR families, our neighbors. Their kids go to school with our kids, they worship at area faith communities, they live down the block.

We are more than halfway through our annual campaign and have raised $729,903 from nearly 1,600 donors. An incredible response from an amazing community. But we have a ways to go to reach our $1.8 million goal. Here are examples of how your contributions help struggling families in our community:

  • $50 fills a tank with gas so families can get to work.
  • $200 covers one week of child care.
  • $672 provides one month’s rent.
  • $2000 ensures that a family will get the help they need for an entire year.

'Tis the season to give. Make a tax-deductible gift that will give a family hope for a brighter, more stable future. www.iocp.org/donate
