My First Day at the State Fair 2012

My first day at the 2012 State Fair.

First, I witnessed the people high up on the Stratosphere, legs dangling, thirsty, hot, bored, hungry, and needing a bathroom break. I believe they were up there about an hour.  I was going to go on that ride, but not now and not ever!

Then I went to take a photo of my Blue Ribbon-winning strawberry bread. As luck would have it, the blue ribbon was stuck under the bread. I had to have a manager open up the refrigerated case, climb in there with her bare feet, and navigate on her tip toes around the  breads and muffins in order to pull the ribbon out so I could photograph it.

I tried the new bacon maple ice cream at the Rainbow Ice Cream Shop.  I am a fan of ice cream, maple, and bacon. I am not a fan of their recipe. The bacon was chewy and the ice cream-I can't believe I'm going to say this-was not sweet enough to offset the salty bacon.  I think it would be much better to have crispy bacon candied and then sprinkled on top of the ice cream so it doesn't get chewy.
