Local Solutions to the Foreclosure Crisis in Hennepin County

Between 2008 and May 2011, homeowners in Hennepin County's 6th district, including Minnetonka, Edina, Hopkins, and suburbs to the West, faced 1,635 foreclosures, draining millions of dollars of equity and causing costly social stress and dislocation of families, municipal costs, reductions in property values and lost property tax revenues. David Snyder will discuss JCA's work with the Northside Community Reinvestment Coalition, a broad coalition of community, religious, ethnic and neighborhood groups that connects residents to free foreclosure counseling and builds resident power to hold banks accountable to lend and invest fairly across the county.
