Future Students Visit West Lutheran High School
West Lutheran High School held their "Warrior for a Day" event on October 29, 2012 to introduce future students to the school.
Over one hundred 7th and 8th grade students spent a day as future Warriors of West Lutheran High School on October 29, 2012. The Warrior for a Day event provided an opportunity for students to live a day in the life at West Lutheran and to learn what the school has to offer. This year, West Lutheran was blessed to welcome students from Trinity Lutheran WELS Belle Plaine, Cross of Christ Lutheran WELS Coon, Rapids, King of Grace Lutheran ELS Golden Valley, Mt. Olive Lutheran WELS Delano, Salem Lutheran WELS Greenfield, Holy Trinity Lutheran WELS New Hope, Redeemer Lutheran LCMS Wayzata and St. John's Lutheran LCMS Maple Grove.
The day started with West faculty and student volunteers greeting the future Warriors as they walked into the school. After the students picked up their information folders, they gathered in the commons area and snacked on donuts and juice. Once everyone arrived, the group assembled in the gym where Principal Merl Meitner welcomed the students to West Lutheran and informed them of the day's events including a mini school day of classes, chapel and lunch.
After the orientation, the West student volunteers guided the students, grouped mainly by school, to their 18 minute classes. In these classes, the student's were exposed the academic and activity opportunities at West including Religion, Math, English, Sciences, Social Studies, Languages, Fine Arts and Sports.
Taking a break from their class schedule, the 7th and 8th graders enjoyed of pizza lunch with cookies for dessert. The day ended with a short wrap up in the gym and group photos in the commons.
