Local Students To Collect Canned Goods Today
High school junior and senior students from across the metro will participate in National Make a Difference Day on Saturday, Nov. 5, by going around local neighborhoods collected canned food.

More than 400 juniors and 300 seniors from 19 local, participating high schools will collect canned goods from 9-11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, in the metro as part of a National Make a Difference Day project with Admission Possible Twin Cities.
Local students will meet at in Plymouth Saturday morning to go door to door to collect non-perishable, canned food items for the Emergency Food Shelf Network. As part of Admission Possible’s annual participation in National Make a Difference Day, this event includes a rally celebrating service, noon Saturday at the Minneapolis Sports Center.
Admission Possible Twin Cities is a nonprofit organization that makes college admission and success possible for low-income students through an intensive curriculum of coaching and support. The organization was launched in 2000 and serves 7,600 low-income high school and college age students through its college access and completion programs.

Nationwide, Admission Possible serves 8,700 Minnesota, Nebraska and Wisconsin students in 2011-12 with plans to reach 20,000 students annually in 10 locations across the country by 2020.
Last year Admission Possible students collected more than 9,000 pounds of food.

Other neighborhoods that will be tapped for the collection project include Minneapolis, St. Paul, New Hope, Coon Rapids, St. Louis Park, Brooklyn Park and Bloomington.
