New Sleep Number Tech Allows Sleepers to Control Temperature

Sleepers can use remotes to set the temperature for their side of the bed.

The Plymouth-based manufacturer of the Sleep Number bed announced on Monday that it would be offering a new way to pamper customers.

Select Comfort’s DualTemp technology will heat and cool each side of the bed separately so that each sleeper can be comfortable throughout the night.

“Through consumer insights, we identified a need that wasn’t being met…the need to individualize temperature on each side of the bed to achieve better sleep,” a news release quoted Annie Bloomquist, chief product officer for Sleep Number. “We believe that only air can truly provide individualized comfort, and our ActiveAir technology – coupled with a simple user experience – offers an exclusive, premium product that combines high function and design to solve sleepers’ pervasive temperature problem.”

Each sleeper in the bed has a wireless remote that allows him or her to control the temperature on that side of the bed. The remotes can be personalized with the sleeper’s names and have an automatic shut-off.

A queen-sized Sleep Number DualTemp costs $1,699.99.
