New Tea Party in Plymouth

A brand new Tea Party is starting in Plymouth on Tuesday, August 6th at the Green Mill. The organizers behind the group will call themselves the "West Metro Tea Party' and will have gubernatorial candidate Jeff Johnson speak at their first event.

The West Metro Tea Party is the third group to start in the metro area since April. Its sister organizations are the South Metro Tea Party that meets at Bogart's in Apple Valley and the East Metro Tea Party which meets at the Machine Shed in Lake Elmo. Both groups are part of a growing movement that began with the North Metro Tea Party, which meets at the Mermaid in Mounds View.

Like other tea party groups, the objective of the West Metro Tea Party is to promote the three core values (free markets, fiscal responsibility, and individual liberty) in an entertaining, yet educational way. The first event will include a short economic lesson and a political game show entitled "The Price is Right - 1913 Edition" where contestants try to guess the price of a consumer item in 1913.  It's a way to educate attendees about the depreciation of the US dollar since the creation of the Federal Reserve.

The first event will begin with a social hour at 6 pm on Tuesday, August 6th at the Green Mill (2705 Annapolis Ln N, Plymouth, MN). The main event will begin at 7pm.
