PHOTOS: Testing Out The New Plymouth Creek Skate Park
Community members flocked to the new skatepark at Plymouth Creek Playfield Wednesday to check out all the features during a soft opening event.
Around 30 residents and city officials came together to celebrate the soft opening of the new skatepark at Plymouth Creek Playfield Nov. 9.
The newly constructed skatepark was completed last Friday and is built 100 percent out of concrete. All components were built or poured on site.
It has a flow or street style skate design with some unique features that make it a potential destination skate park including a Plymouth ‘P’ skateable art feature.
"We are very excited about the new skate park," said Plymouth Recreation Supervisor Alyssa Krumholz. "It is a design or bid build park, designed by the experts at ACTION Sport Development out of California and constructed by W. Gohman Construction from St. Joseph here in Minnesota."
The new skate park is already seeing plenty of action and generating a great deal of interest from both local and not so local skaters, one individual checking out the new park came from as far away as Arizona, Krumholz said.
The city has plans to hold a grand opening for the new skate park next spring at the beginning of the outdoor skate season.
