Plymouth-Based Soccer Team Wins USA Cup Title

The PSA Dynamite squad went 4-0 in the championship bracket and won the U13 girls Gold Flight championship.

The Plymouth Soccer Association Dynamite U13 girls soccer team won the A playoff Gold Flight bracket at the Schwan’s USA Cup soccer tournament held at the National Sports Center in Blaine last week.

The Dynamite opened up the tournament in pool play on Tuesday through Thursday and finished last out of three teams in its pool with a 1-2-0 record. PSA lost to Eastside Rebels 3-0 in its first game, then defeated BFSC Fire Storm 1-0 before falling to Mahtomedi FC 1-0.

But in the A playoff Gold Flight tournament, the Dynamite dominated thanks to solid defense. PSA went 4-0 in the bracket and outscored its opponents 9-1.

In the first round, PSA had a matchup with the Rebel SC Blue Devil club, which PSA won 4-0. In the tournament quarterfinals, PSA topped Dakota REV Comets 1-0, and in the semifinals the Dynamite defeated BFSC Fire Storm 2-0. 

In the championship match, PSA defeated Tony Glavin Green (St. Louis, MO) 2-1 to win the title.

The annual USA Cup weeklong tournament featured more than 490 teams competing in boys and girls age groups ranging from U9 to U19.
