Plymouth Hosts ‘Safe Sitter’ Babysitting, CPR Training Course Set For Feb. 22

The City of Plymouth offers the course in partnership with Safe Sitter, a nonprofit organization that has trained more than 600,000 teens.

The City of Plymouth offers “Safe Sitter” babysitting training 9 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22 at the Plymouth Creek Center, 14800 34th Ave. N.

A course for teens in grades 6-8, the training provides hands-on practice in lifesaving techniques to help equip potential babysitters and children staying home alone with the skills and confidence to act in an emergency.

The course includes:

  • Safety skills: Indoor, outdoor, online and personal safety
  • Child care skills: Child development, behavior management and child care routines, including diapering practice
  • First aid and rescue skills: CPR, choking rescue, injury prevention and injury management
  • Life and business skills: Screening jobs, setting fees and greeting employers

The City of Plymouth offers the course in partnership with Safe Sitter, a nonprofit organization that has trained more than 600,000 teens following guidelines from the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Heart Association.

Cost is $99 per participant. Registration deadline is Thursday, Feb. 20.
