WEEKEND EVENT: Plymouth's Fire & Ice Festival

The annual Plymouth Fire & Ice Festival is fast approaching.

The event is 2-7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4 at .

The popular event includes big money sponsors and thousands of participants.

"We have upwards of 4,500 people who attend the event each year," said  Plymouth Recreation Supervisor Travis Karlen.

Activities include dog sled rides, snow bowling, and a kids' ice fishing contest. One of the "hottest" events of 2011 was the Goofy Hat contest. Nearly one hundred people competed to win this fun event.

Other free activities will be available, such as a hay ride, a petting zoo, ice skating and pony rides. And don't miss the crazy Recycle Bin races and Minute to Win it. Here's a full list of activities.

The event culminates with a performance in the Showmobile by Divas Through the Decades at 5:30 p.m., followed by fireworks at 6:30pm.

All activities are free. The only costs are for food, which will include favorites such as corn dogs, mini donuts and cheese curds. Hot soups will be also be sold, as will a variety of beverages (hot and cold).

Shuttle buses will run between Oakwood Playfield, 1700 Co. Rd. 101, and Parkers Lake from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m.
