Senior Spotlight: Dan Piering of Plymouth

School activities you've been involved in: choir, playing the cello, student council, National Honor Society, WYES (volunteer service group) and drama club

How long have you been in theater: "I've been in plays ever since sixth grade and I thought it was the coolest thing ever and I've been doing it ever since. I've been in every fall musical in high school. This is my first lead role."

Describe the character you play in Brigadoon: Dan plays Tommy Albright, an American tourist who stumbles on Brigadoon while on vacation in the Scottish highlands, but finds more than he bargained for. "He's an older character with complex thoughts and I have to emote those thoughts on stage which has been hard."

What has been most challenging with your latest production: "It's been tough to connect to the character emotionally, but it's nice to play a serious role as I've usually been in comedic ones. It's nice to delve deeper and sing more."

What are you future aspirations: "After high school I'd like to act professionally. I am looking at colleges with acting programs."

"Brigadoon" runs Thursday, Nov. 10 through Saturday, Nov. 12 and Thursday, Nov. 17 through Saturdayday, Nov. 19, at the Wayzata High School Auditorium.
