In its fifth year, PLYMOUTHREADS invites YOU to tell YOUR story -- in just SIX WORDS. In past years, when Plymouth residents have shared their own experiences, memories, or knowledge related to each book, that sharing has provided some of the most valuable, engaging, and educational moments of the annual program.
To get started, be inspired by reading this year’s book selection, Holiday Inn, by Kevin Kling. It “is a romp through a year of holidays. [It] brings readers into his wonderful world of the skewed and significant mundane.” Mr. Kling tells stories from his own life that “are not merely delightful. They are surprising, wise and redemptive. He is one of our great national treasures” (Krista Tippett). As in previous years, Plymouth Library will have extra community copies of the book, contributed by Friends of Plymouth Library.

All ages are invited to submit their stories. You may remain anonymous, or just tell your first name and age. A few examples: “Great career. Nearing retirement. What’s next?”
“City girl happy in the suburbs.”
“Doing my best. Ever good enough?”
“I can. I can. I can.”
The Plymouth Library and Plymouth Creek Center have collection boxes for you to submit your Six Word Memoirs. Or, go to: www.SurveyMonkey.com/s/SixWordMemoir, and submit your memoirs online. Six Word Memoirs will be collected now through February 14th, then they will be turned over to a designer and printed. Look for hundreds of them to be on display in March and April at Plymouth Library, Plymouth Creek Center, and other businesses and gathering points in Plymouth.

Kickoff Celebration - “Everybody Has a Story -- Writing Memoir” presentation by Dolly Bentson, Sunday, March 23, 1 p.m. at Plymouth Library. Get your questions answered and delve deeper to find out if you would like to write a memoir of MORE than six words. Plymouth’s own Dolly Bentson has written and published her memoir titled, Hello, Dolly! She has the experience and connections to help guide you.
Join the Discussion - Read the PLYMOUTHREADS 2014 selection, Holiday Inn, by Kevin Kling. Then join other community members for a lively discussion about the book, Sunday, March 30, 1 p.m. at Plymouth Library.
Meet the Author, Kevin Kling - Literary Night of Primavera, Sunday, April 6, 6:30 p.m. at
Plymouth Creek Center. Mr. Kling will speak and answer questions. The Bookcase of Wayzata will be present offering Kling’s books for purchase while you enjoy refreshments.
