A teenage girl may face charges after police say she created a Facebook page titled "Kroacky Klown" and threatened local communities.
A teenage girl may face charges after police say she created a Facebook page titled “Kroacky Klown” and used it to make threats against people in several places in the Twin Cities metro.
On the evening of Oct. 4, Hopkins police received information through its Facebook page that an unknown suspect under the name of Kroacky Klown was making threats to kill.
The Hopkins Police Department began an immediate investigation, according to a news release.

Using Facebook, police identified the suspect behind Kroacky Klown as a 15-year-old girl from Bloomington.
The suspect used her younger sister's cellphone to create the fictitious Facebook account, according to police.

The girl told police her intent was to scare her boyfriend, but the situation got out of control and went "viral."
Police said that "charges will be pursued" for the threats made via the Kroacky Klown page.
Hopkins police told parents that they "need to take some time and remind their children about the consequences of inappropriate behavior on social media, which may become criminal in nature."
Hopkins and other cities have reports of similar incidents involving clowns. Please report all threats to police as soon as possible.
The Hopkins Police Department takes these threats seriously and "does not clown around."
Clown reports have been creeping up around the state, including a recent one in Farmington.
