Uchu, Eat Shop, Tea House Featured in Star Tribune Dining Roundup
The three Plymouth businesses are among 17 independent restaurants and bakeries in north and northwest suburbs highlighted by the newspaper.
Plymouth has three independent restaurants featured in a Star Tribune roundup of dining options in the northern and northwestern Twin Cities suburbs. Here are some excerpts:
Uchu
Chef/owner Jorge Armando Sarmiento and his family are hospitable to the nth degree, and the pretense-free menu is a treat, whether he’s demonstrating his mastery for slow-cooked beans (well-seasoned perfection), mussels (garnished with tender corn and a splash of lime), ceviche (preparing it four exciting ways) or shrimp smothered in a richly savory pepper sauce.

Eat Shop
Instead of making the trek to Uptown, western suburbanites can stay close to home for their dose of an eclectic, covers-the-bases menu that swings from an excellent slaw-topped pork sandwich and clever swordfish tacos to rigatoni tossed with tender duck confit, earthy mushrooms and plenty of sage and polenta topped with sauteed greens and a poached egg.

Tea House
The Tea House ... continues to impress for its wide-ranging, carefully prepared Chinese fare; its mostly-under-$8 lunch menu is a bargain.
Another restaurant that is soon to make Plymouth its home is the Sunshine Factory:
Enjoy a final summer at the Sunshine Factory Restaurant & Bistro ... at its longtime address [in New Hope], anyway; the classic northwest suburban destination, a landmark since 1976, is relocating about 3 1/2 miles to the west (4100 Vinewood Lane N., Plymouth) by the end of the year.
