Aida Celebrates First Anniversary in Richfield

The Mediterranean-themed restaurant hit one year Feb. 24/

It's been year since Richfield's former Taco Bell was transformed into the unique .

Owned by Ahmed Mohamed, his wife Amy Mohamed, and Sammy Eldabshour, the restaurant was the team's first restaurant venture. Amy Mohamed worked in the travel industry for many years, while her husband and Eldabshoury are certified public accountants who share a practice in Edina.

Mediterranean cuisine often infuses Greek, Italian, Middle Eastern and some African styles, dishes and spices. The restaurant's menu features mostly Middle Eastern influences, and includes shawarma, gyros, kebabs, falafel and much more.

Aida bills itself as a family-friendly option which, though a step above fast food, remains significantly less expensive than sit-down restaurants.

“It should be easy for any family to go out after work and find healthy, quality food,” Ahmed Mohamed told Patch on opening day in 2012.
