In order to understand how Trump operates, we must stop blaming the Democrats. That means no more blatantly criticizing – and nit-pick-pick-picking – former President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris. And no more wasting time with “Democratic Autopsies” and profusely studying the “findings” that are completely useless in deciphering Donaldspeak, either.
Figuring out how this sociopathic iconoclast keeps deliberately eroding our democracy requires erasing that reverential halo of high office – one that’s usually granted without question to the U.S. President – and focusing instead on exactly what Trump has been doing…without any excuses, apologies, or softsoaping.
Somehow The Donald has managed to manipulate his Presidential Oath of public service into his own personal scepter for serving himself monetary, political, and personal gain.
Let’s review some reasonable expectations of our American government and see how he’s maneuvered them for his own profit and petulance. Check out these 4 generally accepted ideals about our democracy to see how he skewed the noble, accepted understanding of these self-evident truths into his own power grabs.
In Trumpworld, however, it only takes one Trumper for The Donald to get his way.
Trump has made a point of scattering loyal and obedient followers(ever ready to do his bidding) in various local, state, and federal government offices and courts. That way, he could get what he wanted with just a majority of one. Even if a vote was tied 50-50 in the Senate, all he’d need would be for Veep J.D. Vance – as President of The Senate – to cast the tie-breaking vote so that the bill he’d wanted to pass would actually pass.
On the other hand, if he didn’t want a bill to become law, he could count on Speaker of The House Mike Johnson to prevent said bill from ever making it to the floor for a vote.
Trump realized that, as long as that one guy was around to obey HIS orders, HE – and not The People – could always be in control.
In Trumpworld, however, if you don’t do what The Donald wants you to do, you will be punished. He will launch a vendetta against you. He will make sure you’ll get fired or be forced to resign or lose any upcoming political election. He will even use his bully pulpit to publicly smear you with lies and ridicule.
All kinds of bad things will happen to you if you dare to disobey his orders. You might even get obscene phone calls that threaten you and your family! That’s what happened to Marjorie Taylor Green.
Then when she phoned him with concerns about these threats to her children, he slammed her with this verbal jab: “You have no one to blame but yourself.”
In Trumpworld, however, possibilities for immigrants – especially non-white ones – are limited to servicing him and his wealthy cohorts at his golf course and Mar-a-Lago.
And yet, he has publicly complained about too many non-white immigrants “coming from s**thole countries…Why can’t we get more people coming in from Norway?”(As if Norwegians would actually enjoy his un-Constitutional banter and problematic leadership just because their country has a predominantly white population? Duh.)
In Trumpworld, unless laws do not specify the exact thing that he, as President, can or cannot do, he believes he can do whatever he wants – because, after all, he IS the President of The United States.
So he does whatever he wants to do or say. Then whenever the legality of his action is questioned, he knows that somewhere in some court, one of the Trumpers he's strategically positioned will legally find in his favor.
Here’s another perfect example that shows what Trump believes he can do – without getting arrested or impeached.
(No, this incident hasn’t really happened, but it just might take place in the future.)
At a news conference in the Oval Office, Trump decides the reporters are asking him questions that are impertinent and disrespectful to him.
So he turns and pulls down his pants and moons them with his big bare bottom.
Needless to say, public reaction is immediate outrage and disgust. Across the nation, calls for him to resign and face punishment for his indecent act are almost unanimous.
But The Donald responds by informing his critics that no laws were broken!
In fact, he and his sycophantic staff declare this legal point: There is no specific law in existence that prohibits the President of The United States from mooning or “colorfully, humorously reacting” to hostile reporters who disrespect him and his office. Furthermore, defending his Presidency by mooning was not "obscene” if he merely does so in a mindful jest as a protective reaction with no salacious intent.
Let’s face it, dear readers. If this had actually happened, he probably would have gotten away with doing it and not even gotten a slap on the wrist from the justice system – or Fox Nooz.
Look closer at his record of “public service” as POTUS 45 and 47. Notice how easily – almost effortlessly – he won both of those Presidential Elections? He not only was a master of propaganda, he understood our system of government so well that he was able to openly abuse it AND brainwash many Americans into thinking he was the greatest president who ever lived.
That kind of cunning and subterfuge can make opponents who are trying to honor and obey the laws of our democracy always seem like losers –even if they win. And that, unfortunately, is the real tragedy of the losses Joe Biden and Kamala Harris have had to endure.
