• Richfield man says he captured video of FBI arresting man accused of plotting attack on Mall of America (kare11.com) — An FBI terrorism sting unfolded this week in Richfield's Roosevelt Park, where agents arrested an 18-year-old accused of plotting a mass-casualty attack at the Mall of America. A Richfield resident who witnessed the takedown described dozens of agents swarming a car after the suspect allegedly bought an assault rifle and ammunition from an undercover agent.
• Prosecutors say Minneapolis nightclub shooting may have been retaliation for earlier assault (mprnews.org) — Richfield figures into a broader Minnesota news roundup through the FBI's arrest there of a teenager accused of trying to buy a rifle as part of an alleged Mall of America attack plan. The story also covers a Minneapolis nightclub shooting case, ongoing statewide drought, and a large student walkout in Roseville.
• Minnesota Teen Charged in Alleged ISIS-Inspired Mall of America Shooting Plot (easternherald.com) — An 18-year-old Richfield resident was arrested after allegedly buying an FBI-supplied rifle in a Richfield parking lot as part of what prosecutors say was an ISIS-inspired plan to attack the Mall of America later this month. Federal authorities say the weapon was rendered inoperable before the sting, and the teen now faces a terrorism-related firearm charge while being held pending a detention hearing.
