Build-A-Bear Bakeshop Opening At Mall Of America

BLOOMINGTON, MN — Build-A-Bear Workshop will open a new bakeshop at Mall of America this summer. Shoppers can decorate and enjoy sweet ready-made treats at the Bloomington store.

The Build-A-Bear Bakeshop is the first of its kind in Minnesota and the company’s second bakeshop location overall. It will be located near the Build-A-Bear Workshop store on level one, east.

“Build-A-Bear Bakeshop is the newest version of the experience that has set Build-A-Bear apart for the last 20 years,” said Chris Hurt, chief operating officer at Build-A-Bear, said in a statement.

“We believe Mall of America is the perfect location for the next Bakeshop and kids of all ages will enjoy the opportunity to decorate and personalize their own cupcakes and cookies."

The Build-A-Bear Bakeshop will offer a variety of sweets, including cupcakes, brownies, macarons, cookies and more. The treats will be made by Cocoa & Fig, a boutique bakeshop and dessert catering company in the Twin Cities.

Guests can choose from already-iced cakes and treats for a quick on the go dessert or decorate their own cupcakes and cookies with frosting, icing pens, and sprinkles. The bakeshop will also feature specialty drinks, including Shatto Milk Flavorizers.

“Based on the tremendous success of Build-A-Bear Workshop, we are thrilled that Mall of America is next to roll out this exciting, new and innovative concept,” said VP of Real Estate and Leasing Heather Brechbill-Swilley.

“Guests have been creating one-of-a-kind memories here for over 25 years and we strive to find brands like Build-A-Bear that give them a unique experience every time they visit.”

Build-A-Bear Bakeshop will also offer party packages for guests to celebrate birthdays, graduations and other special moments.

As part of a Build-A-Bear Bakeshop party package for groups of five or more, a master decorator leads the group in decorating their own cupcakes or cookies; each attendee receives two cupcakes and a drink, and everyone takes home a Build-A-Bear Buddies furry friend and an apron.
