Customer Flees After Shooting Richfield Business Owner in the Foot: Police

The suspect fled the area after shooting the business owner multiple times. Richfield police were not able to make an immediate arrest.

A business owner was shot multiple times Wednesday after getting into a dispute with a customer. The suspect fled the scene and is not currently in custody.

On Wednesday at 11:43 a.m, Richfield police officers responded to the 6200 block of Cedar Ave. on a complaint of a shooting.

A male customer, known to the business, got into an argument with the owner. Police say the customer shot the owner numerous times, including in the foot. The owner was then transported to the Hennepin County Medical Center for treatment.

The suspect fled the area in his vehicle. A Richfield police officer engaged in a brief pursuit of the suspect; however, due to traffic conditions and the suspect’s driving conduct, the officer terminated the pursuit, according to a news release.

This incident is currently under investigation. Authorities say it appears to be an isolated incident. The Richfield Police Department does not believe there is an ongoing threat to the community.
