'Drive-By' Shooting In Richfield Leaves 24-Year-Old Dead

A 24-year-old man is dead after a "drive-by" shooting in Richfield on July 3, according to police.

RICHFIELD, MN — One man is dead after a "drive-by" shooting in Richfield. On July 3 at 11:21 p.m., Richfield police officers responded to the area of 64th street and 4th Avenue on a complaint of an individual who was shot. Additional callers stated that four to five shots were fired and the victim was struck in the chest by gunfire.

Upon arrival, Officers located a 24-year-old male who sustained at least one gunshot wound. He was lying down on 64th street between 4th and 5th Avenue. Richfield police, Richfield fire personnel and Hennepin County paramedics administered first aid to the victim. He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a news release.

The Hennepin County Crime Lab was contacted to process the scene. This was a drive-by style shooting, according to police.

Witnesses described the suspect vehicle as a 1990s gray mini-van with a sliding door on the driver’s side. The vehicle was occupied by four individuals. This incident is currently under investigation.
