Oak Grove Lutheran Church Holding Rally Day for Entire Community

, 7045 Lyndale Ave. S., will host a Rally Day Celebration on Sunday, Sept. 11, 2011. 

The day will include an outdoor worship service at 10 a.m., followed by a picnic, concert, live animal show, (Volunteers Enlisted to Assist People) food drive and other activities from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The entire community is invited to attend.

Highlights of the event:

• Outdoor Picnic: Grilled burgers, brats and hotdogs will be available, along with soft drinks, popcorn, ice cream and other treats.

• Caribe, a band specializing in Latin music, will perform a free concert.

• Live animal show with Martha Herbert will be held at 12 noon. Ms. Herbert’s shows generally feature animals like a raccoon, parrot, fox, chinchilla, lizard and more.

• Silent auction with funds benefitting Camp Wapogasset (a recreational camp serving youth and adults) and VEAP (a local human services agency serving Richfield, Bloomington and Edina).

• VEAP food drive where donors will receive a ticket for a chance to win a prize.  One prize ticket will be given for each non-perishable food item that is donated.

• Children’s games with fun prizes.

• Amusing skill challenge contests with adult and youth categories.

• Inflatable basketball game for youth and adults.
