Father Of 6 Killed In Richfield Tree Accident

Bill Pipes was a relatively new employee at Victory Tree Service​, according to KMSP.

RICHFIELD, MN — A landscaping worker died in Richfield Wednesday after he was hit by a flying piece of metal from a wood chipper. While trimming a tree near 70th Street and James Avenue South, the chipper became clogged.

As another employee worked to fix it, a piece of the machine became dislodge and fatally struck Bill Pipes, reports KSTP.

Pipes, a father of six children, was a relatively new employee at Victory Tree Service, according to KMSP. "Apparently something blew up today, one of the knives came out and hit that shroud, which hit him in the back of the head, which killed him," Bill's brother Tom told the news station.
