Good Samaritan Saves Woman in Sinking Vehicle in Bloomington
A good Samaritan risked his life Tuesday when he walked out on thin ice to pull a woman from her rapidly sinking vehicle in Bloomington.
A good Samaritan helped save a woman from her sinking vehicle Tuesday morning near the ramp from Highway 169 to Interstate 494 in Bloomington. The woman’s vehicle slid off the road an into a holding pond just after 8 a.m., according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
The woman then smashed her car window with a fire extinguisher. Authorities say a good Samaritan risked his life and walked out on to the very thin ice to help pull the woman from her rapidly sinking car.
The woman was not injured in the crash but did have some minor injuries from crawling through the broken glass, according to police.

If you find yourself in a sinking vehicle, authorities say you should roll your windows down if possible. If you can’t open your windows, smash them with something from inside your vehicle, such as a flashlight.
