Mall Of America Announces Custom-Built Oval Ice Rink
The ice rink — located near the Mall of America's Star Sculpture — will be free and open to the public.

BLOOMINGTON, MN — Mall of America Wednesday announced a new experience for guests this holiday season. Skate The Star is a custom-built ice rink located at the mall's north entrance.
“An ice rink has been an experience we have always wanted to bring to life for our guests who visit Mall of America during this cherished time of year,” spokeswoman Jill Renslow said in a statement.
“We want our guests to experience the unexpected when they visit each year. That is why adding this ice rink is such an exciting addition to our holiday line-up. We look forward to seeing visitors from all over the world enjoy Skate the Star at MOA.”

Skate the Star will be free and open to the public during select Mall hours.
Guests are welcome to use their own skates, or skate rentals will be available for $5 with 100 percent of skate rental proceeds going directly to the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Twin Cities (BGCTC).

Funds raised from skate rentals will help the BGCTC provide activities and support to more than 9,000 young people in kindergarten through graduation from high school, according to a news release.
Skate the Star is being constructed by the "Minnesota Ice" company. The rink will be built around the iconic north entrance Star Sculpture at Mall of America using 18,000 gallons of water.
