Motorcyclist Fleeing Cops Is Ejected, Dies On I-494: Police

Police say the motorcycle struck the cement barrier on the flyover ramp and the rider was ejected and landed on the mainline of I-494.

TWIN CITIES, MN — A motorcyclist fleeing police was killed after he was ejected and landed on Interstate 494 Saturday, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. Authorities said the 50-year-old man from Crystal was observed traveling at a high rate of speed by an Edina police officer heading south on Highway 100 at 70th Street West.

The motorcyclist did not stop, a pursuit was initiated, and the motorcycle fled west on Interstate 494, according to MSP. At West Bush Lake Road, an Edina supervisor terminated the pursuit.

The motorcyclist continued driving at a high rate of speed and exited for Highway 169 south, according to police. At 2:51 p.m., the motorcycle struck the cement barrier on the flyover ramp and the rider was ejected and landed on the mainline of I-494.
