Richfield Man Killed by Xcel Energy Truck in Bloomington

The truck swerved to avoid another car, traveled off the road and hit the victim.

A Richfield man was killed Monday after being struck by a commercial vehicle in Bloomington.

The Star Tribune reported that Crisostomo Sanchez-Sanchez, 29, died the morning of Aug. 15 after being struck by an Xcel Energy truck at the intersection of 86th Street and Nicollet Avenue.

The truck was heading south on Nicollet Avenue when it swerved to avoid a car that was turning left on 86th Street from northbound Nicollet Avenue. The truck traveled off the road and hit Sanchez-Sanchez and a utility pole.

The Sun Current reported that Bloomington police officers found Sanchez-Sanchez trapped under the vehicle that hit him.

"We are deeply saddened by this tragic accident and our sympathies and thoughts are with the victim's family at this most difficult time," Xcel Energy Minnesota president Chris Clark said in a statement.

The Bloomington Police Department, the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office and the Minnesota State Patrol are investigating the incident.
