Snowstorm Strands MN Choir In CA After Competition; Group Fundraising For Return
As of Monday evening, the choir had plans to travel from Los Angeles to Salt Lake City to Denver as they made their way toward home.
A choir from the Twin Cities suburbs escaped the Minnesota winter for a competition in Orange County, California, only to be trapped on the West Coast when a massive storm dropped over a foot of snow on parts of the south metro Sunday.
“Our flights home tonight are canceled and we can’t get back to Minnesota until later this week via plane rides and charter buses across the country,” Bloomington Kennedy Choirs explained Sunday in a social media post. “We’re anticipating about $30,000 in additional costs that we didn’t expect and we need your help.”
Nearly 700 flights were canceled Sunday at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, according to FlightAware.
